Four Lakes is the closest ski and snowboarding hill to metro Chicago, and works as a great place for those who are interested in winter sports to get started skiing and snowboarding. It’s a great place to bring the family, complete with lessons and low-difficulty hills and a small vertical drop.

Four Lakes features a 100 foot vertical drop, 9 acres of skiable terrain, seven runs, and one terrain park. 40% of the runs are for beginners, making it a good hill for someone in the metro area to get started skiing or snowboarding. Lessons are also offered, as well as rental equipment. There are no chair lifts at Four Lakes, but instead, there’s seven rope tows to get someone up the hill.
Due to Four Lakes being a low difficulty hill mostly intended for people in the metro area, there’s no lodging on-site at the hill, but there is lodging around the hill. The terrain park has boxes, pipes, and rails for a challenge.
Tickets start at $28 for the weekday and weekends, and the hill is typically open 4 PM to 10 PM on weekdays and 10 AM to 7 PM on weekends.
